Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Welcome to the College of

Nursing BSN Web-site.

The College of Nursing offers a baccalaureate degree in professional nursing at the UAMS campus in Little Rock, Arkansas and at the UAMS off-campus site at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, Arkansas (UACCH). The College is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The College is committed to the policy of providing educational opportunities to all qualified students regardless of their economic or social status, and does not discriminate on the basis of disabilities, race, color, sex, creed, or national origin.

Extracurricular activities of the College support classroom experiences and build professional relationships, teamwork, and pride through the Student Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International (the international honor society of nurses), and other professional nursing organizations.

The baccalaureate program prepares highly competent nurses for professional careers.  Graduates give state of the art nursing care in ambulatory, acute care, and long-term settings to individuals, families, and communities.  At the completion of the program, BSN graduates are eligible to take the state board examination for licensure.

Below are the programs that we offer:

  • BSN - Generic Program
Requires a minimum of 64 hours in the arts and sciences that can be taken at any accredited college and 60 hours of College of Nursing courses at UAMS.  The first courses begin in the summer following admission.
  • BSN Nursing Honors Program
If you meet stated criteria of excellence, you can apply for admission to this program.  In this program, you will complete 10 hours of graduate-level courses while earning your BSN degree.  Students are mentored by senior research faculty throughout their educational experience and can earn advanced standing when they enter the College's master's degree program.
  • RN to BSN Completion Program
Registered nurses may apply for admission to the nursing program with advanced standing.  The RN completion baccalaureate program is web-based and is offered part-time or full-time.
  • BSN/MNSc Articulated Program
The articulated BSN/MNSc pathway will allow for students with a cumulative GPA of 2.85 or greater to take selected graduate coursework to be applied to the BSN degree.  This program is offered part-time or full-time and is web-based.
  • BSN to PhD Program
Refer to the PhD Program website for more information.
