"Hold Directory Information"

"The rights primarily reside with the student, regardless of age, once he or she is admitted or
enrolls
at an institution of higher education."
The Act grants four specific rights to the adult student:

the right to see the information that the institution is
keeping on the student

the right to seek amendment to those records and in certain
cases append a statement to the record

the right to consent to disclosure of his/her records
-
the right to file a complaint with the FERPA Office in
Washington
The Non-directory information is any educational record not
considered directory
information.

Non-directory information may include:
-
Social security numbers;
-
Student identification number;
-
Race, ethnicity, and/or nationality;
-
Gender
-
Transcripts; grade reports
Non-directory information must
not be released to anyone,
including parents of the
student, without the prior written consent of the
student.
Further, faculty and staff can access non-directory information
only if they have a legitimate academic need to do so.
The following directory information may be made public
unless the student desires to withhold any or all of this information.
You have the right to place a
FERPA block on your directly information. To opt out of allowing directory
information to be disclosed, please complete the
"Hold Directory Information"
form and submit to the Student Services Office via delivery or facsimile
